Biography

Born Alexander Rae Baldwin III in Massapequa, New York. He the second of six children. He was the first person in his family to become an actor followed by his brothers Daniel, Stephen and William. He graduated from George Washington University with a degree in political science. Three years later he enrolled in the drama department at NYU to pursue his acting career. His big break was probably the daytime series The Doctos on NBC. That led to a part on the prime time series Cutter to Houston. After this series he went to New York to work in the Broadway show "Loot" for which he recieved the Theatre World Prize in 1986 . Since he has been in a number of theatrical productions including A Streetcar Named Desire and Prelude to a Kiss.

Alec has been in a number of movies including Malice, Beetlejuice and The Hunt For Red October. He returned to NYU in 1993 to complete the requirements for his BFA degree. Was married to Kim Basinger, they had a daughter Ireland Eliesse on October 23, 1995.
