Biography Filmography Links Contact Galleries Date of birth:22 June 1973
Early Life
Daly attended Santa Monica High School, and wanted to become a priest. His mother, who currently hosts a television talk show in Palm Springs, California, was a dancer and actress. His father died of cancer when Daly was six. Later, Daly began playing golf and dreamed of becoming a professional golf player. He attended Loyola Marymount University on a golf scholarship, where he studied theology. Daly attended university for one year, but changed direction after starting an internship at a Palm Springs radio station and becoming a disc jockey at another station in San Diego. [edit] In 1997, Daly first appeared on MTV as a "video jockey", or VJ, and the following year he became the host of Total Request Live (TRL). He began a talk show in 2002, called Last Call with Carson Daly, that airs late-night on NBC. In 2003, Daly stepped down from TRL to concentrate on Last Call. [edit] A recent burglary of Daly's home, allegedly by an obsessed female fan, resulted in personal items as clothes, awards, and photographs being stolen. An arrest was made when the unnamed person attempted to auction stolen boxer shorts on eBay. It was later rumored that Carson Daly himself has perpetrated the act with the help of a friend, and auctioned off his own boxers in order to attract attention from his targeted MTV demographic. He used to have a tattoo of the word "love" on his ankle, in reference to his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Love Hewitt. In 2005, Daly went on the Jay Leno Show and stated that he let his tattoo artist decide what image should be used to cover the word "love". He ended up with a tattoo of an open Swiss Army Knife with a crab leg instead of a blade, a tattoo that the artist had supposedly wanted to try for a long time. He's also been linked to pop-singers Willa Ford and Christina Aguilera. [edit] He is referenced in the NBC sitcom My Name Is Earl (debuted September 2005) as the person who introduces Earl (played by Jason Lee) to the concept of karma.
