Birthplace: Great Neck, Long Island, New York, USA Christophe Guy Dénis Lambert was born March 29, 1957 in Great Neck, Long Island, New York. He is the son of French parents, his father a financial expert employed by the United Nations. His family moved away from the U.S. when he was only two, and since his parents traveled a great deal, he was enrolled in Swiss boarding schools. He first became interested in acting at the age of twelve after participating in a school play. His parents however wanted him to have a job with security and saw acting as unsafe, so to please his parents he took a job with the London Stock Exchange, but after about six months he left the L.S.E. to help a friend run a shop in Paris. He also served in the French military at his father's insistence. His father agreed to support Christophe for two years so that Christophe could pursue his love for acting, and after some time he auditioned for and was accepted as a theater student at the famed Paris Conservatoire. His first two films were "La Dame de Coeur" and "Legitime Violence," and then he auditioned for Hugh Hudson for the leading role as John Clayton in "Greystoke, The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes." He first read for Hudson and then did an hour of gymnastics to prove he was right for the role. Christophe's talent did not go undiscovered and in 1985 he starred in Luc Besson's "Subway," for which he earned the French Cesar award as best actor. During his marriage to actress Diane Lane, they starred in "Priceless Beauty" and "Knight Moves" together. In 1994, they became the proud parents of one daughter, Eleanor Jasmine Lambert. Christophe enjoys making movies that take him away from everyday life and create something that is entertaining for people. He is attracted to roles with extremes in characters that aren't boring. Christophe portrayed the immortal Connor MacLeod in the original Highlander film released in 1984. Christophe learned his swordfighting skills in about sixteen weeks. He can't wear contact lenses, so he rehearses extra hours so that the scenes are safe. Christophe recently finished filming Highlander Endgame with Adrian Paul, possibly the last Highlander film. There are rumors that Connor will be killed off in Endgame but whatever happens, Connor will always be THE HIGHLANDER to his many fans. After Endgame, we can expect to see a historical action drama called "Druids", where Christophe portrays a Gallic chieftain raging war against Julius Ceasar. Christophe has also finished a political thriller called Pointmen, written by Steven Hartov and Ripley Highsmith, and directed by John Glen. In addition to being a talented actor, Christopher has produced several films including "Resurrection", "Nine Months", "Knight Moves", and "Gideon" to name a few. When Christopher isn't acting he also has several business ventures. I hope to someday be able to visit one of Christopher's restaurants called Gitana and try his wine, Les Garrigues de Beaumard-Lambert.
