Biography Filmography Links Contact Galleries Birthdate: 31 March 1971
Birthplace: Crieff, Perthshire, Scotland, UK Ewan McGregor originally came to public notice with performances in several dark and edgy independent productions. Since then he has gone on to star in some big budget films but still courts more unconventional roles. Born into a family of teachers, McGregor was not a particularly good student and developed an interest in acting early. Leaving school at the age of sixteen, he worked behind the scenes at the Perthshire Repertory Theater until he was accepted into London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He left the school before graduating, taking a part in the British TV series "Lipstick On Your Collar" in 1992. His big break came two years later when he appeared in the cult-hit film "Shallow Grave" in 1994. He then went on to star in director Danny Boyle's next film "Trainspotting" in 1996. It was this film that brought McGregor both popular and critical acclaim. After appearing in a whole series of small films, McGregor was cast in the role of the young Obi-Wan Kenobi in 1999. A role he would play in both "The Phantom Menace" and "Attack of the Clones". In between he also appeared in 2001's Moulin Rouge, co-starring in the musical with Nicole Kidman. He is set to appear in the third Star Wars film in 2005. McGregor lives in London with his wife, French
production designer Eve Mavrakis. They have two daughters, Clara Mathilde
and Esther Rose. Star Wars: Episode III (2005) ....
