Alexandra was born on December 15, 1972 in Washington DC. She is best known for playing "Aphrodite" on Hercules and Xena. Tydings studied Irish folk dancing as a child. Continuing that interest at the Malone School of Irish Dance, she represented the U.S. at the World Championships of Irish Dance. She has also trained with the American Ballet Theatre and performed in Isadora with the Royal Ballet of London. She has starred in a number of major motion pictures including The Sunchaser, Angst and Alice. When not busy appearing as Aphrodite on Hercules/Xena,
Alexandra will soon be appearing in the Jon Favreau film Made, with Vince Vaughn and Famke Janssen. She also just finished her first science fiction project: the audio play Anne Marx and the Ring of the Minotour starring Claudia Christian. Alex has starred in several series pilots, and guest starred in other series including Party of Five, Vanishing Sun and The Red Shoe Diaries.
Alex loves to travel and explore the locations she works in. She also continues her passion for dance and competition by learning new styles of dancing (African, Salsa, Samba...) and training for her next belt in Tae Kwon Do.
