Few actors are as fortunate as Kelli Maroney has been. At the beginning of her career, Kelli apprentices at the prestigious GUTHRIE THEATER in Minneapolis MN where she was born. William H. Macy, F. Murray Abraham, and Stephen Lang were among the members of the company that Kelli both worked and studied under. Encouraged by the actors at the Guthrie, Kelli journeyed to New York to study at the National Shakespeare Company conservatory. Fate had other things in mind for Kelli, however and two weeks after her arrival in Manhattan, Kelli landed a leading role on the daytime dramas RYAN'S HOPE, playing "Kimberly," an evil, 'Lolita'-esque adolescent. Kelli was featured on the cover of People Magazine and also worked with acting legend Joan Fontaine. Kelli continued her domination of daytime TV with her role as vengeful sex kitten 'Tina' on ONE LIFE TO LIVE.

Having arrived in the world of television, Kelli knew her dream of acting in film was soon to follow. Kelli is drawn to the unexpected: the heroic impulse in the otherwise petulant, the black heart beneath the angelic face. She quickly found a cornucopia of roles in which she could express this range, beginning with SLAYGROUND, (starring Peter Coyote) playing a psychotic nymphet and graduating t o the classic FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH (dir. Amy Heckerling, writer Cameron Crowe, Sean Penn et al). Next came the hit NIGHT OF THE COMET (dir. Thom Eberhardt) which garnered 'two thumbs up' from Siskel and Ebert, and a prediction from New York Times critic Vincent Canby that Kelli had "a sure future in action comedy." Never one to be predictable, Kelli was next seen in SERVANTS OF TWIGHLIGHT opposite Bruce Greenwood and MIDNIGHT WITNESS opposite Jan-Michael Vincent. THE ZERO BOYS was a thriller that featured up-and-comers like Frank Darabonbt (The Green Mile) on the crew and Stephen Kay (Get Carter) in the cast. Many other roles followed, but the meatiest by far came with Thom Eberhardt's FACE DOWN, co-starring Joe Mantegna and Peter Riegert. The Showtime Original Movie featured Kelli as a schizophrenic femme fatale, who is both vulnerable and deadly, depending on her lithium dosage. Kelli moved into the real-life role of film producer with the 30 minute short sam and mike with writer/actor Suzanne Krull (The next best thing, How the Grinch stole Christmas). The cast includes Bo Eason (Miami Rhapsody) and James Rebello (Detriot Rock City) and captured a Best Director Trophy for Jessica Kubzansky.

Most recently, Kelli starred in another festival film for storyboard artist/director Paul Power (Top Gun, The Mummy) and Harold Hopkins (Gallipoli) entitled I JUST DREW. Kelli's many television guest spots include Tommy Thompson's mini-series CELEBRITY (Joseph Bottoms), MURDER SHE WROTE (Angela Landsbury, Van Johnson, Linda Hamilton), and CHICAGO HOPE, playing Mark Harmon's suicidal mother in black-and-white flashbacks. Onstage, Kelli created the role of stripper Brandy in the long running hit PINK (by Allison Adams) at the Renegade Theater, which was a Los Angeles Times 'Pick of the Weekend,' and took over for Carrie Ann Moss (The Matrix) in OUTWARD BOUND, a 1940's period piece at the Hudson Backstage. Of all her stage work, Kelli's favorite is still her turn at Maryilyn Monroe for Norman Mailer in the development of his stage play STRAWHEAD. In addition to the legendary GROUNDLINGS and SECOND CITY in Los Angeles, Kelli continues to study at Larry Moss Studio, pursuing a new and challenging role. "I'm looking for something extremely intense," Kelli explains. "I want to go deeper and darker than ever before. I'm ready."
