Mia Hamm has been called America's secret weapon, "the most dangerous forward on the field." She is the world's most popular female soccer player and when she is playing the game no one can break her concentration, dampen her will or get by her unchallenged. Member of the 1999 World Cup team, her winning spirit remains with her off the field as well where she combines her strong will and caring soul to form the heart of a real world class champion. Mia was the youngest player ever to play for the U.S. Women's National Team (age 15) and has been a member ever since (the team won the World Championships in 1991, Mia's second time on the team).
In December 2001, Hamm was named the FIFA World Women's Player of the Year at the FIFA World Player Gala 2001 in Zurich, Switzerland. A men's World Player of the Year has been awarded since 1991, but this is the first year that a woman was so honored.
As the head of her own charitable foundation, The Mia Hamm Foundation , she dedicates much of her free time and energy to support bone marrow disease research and to promote the growth of opportunities for young women in sports.
Ms. Hamm travels from various places all over the country.
