Biography

On October 27th, 1977 (a Scorpio), Sheeri Rappaport (whose first name means "My song" in Hebrew) was born to Israeli parents in Texas, her home until the age of nine. Her first taste of show business was a flamboyant one, starring in a musical variety show as "Carmen Miranda". When her family (including her older brother, who eventually entered medical school) moved to New York, she distinguished herself in High School as a writer, while starring in several national commercials. She went on to guest star in a number of TV shows, including "Clarissa Explains It All", and eventually moved to L.A. At 17, she appeared in a Jon Bon Jovi video ("Lie to me" from 1995's "These Days" album) as a runaway (by Marty Callner, the same director of Alicia Silverstone's and Liv Tyler's Aerosmith's videos).

To support herself, she registered with Central Casting as an extra, eventually landing a tiny part in "The Craft". Sheeri auditioned for a similar, lower-budgeted film, "Little Witches", for the part of the virtuous girl, with whom she felt the most affinity, but instead opted for the star role of Jamie, an evil young witch of few inhibitions. Despite her objection to the nudity required by the role, she felt a higher profile on the set would allow her a view of the entire production rarely afforded newcomers to Hollywood, and give her more say over the creative process. Supporting her effort was the director, Jane Simpson, a newcomer herself also struggling to establish herself in motion pictures. All this prompted Sheeri to write an article (in Femmes Fatales magazine) detailing the ups and downs of being an actress and a woman director in the B-Movie industry, an experience she found instructive.

Afterwards, she landed roles on 7th Heaven and starred in a two-part episode of "Xena, Warrior Princess", which she chronicles in September 1999's issue of Femme Fatales. In 1999, she landed a guest spot on NYPD Blue as Rick Schroeder's love interest, originally a single appearance that has since been expanded into the 2001 season, and can also be seen on "C.S.I." In November of 2000 she joined the USO on a tour through the Balkans. Lately, she's gone on to independent feature films, and as always, she has a keen eye for interesting and challenging roles. Keep an eye out for Sheeri in 2005!
