Biography

Patricia Lynn Yearwood was actually discovered by Garth Brooks back in the late 1980's, when both their careers were struggling. Both Trisha and Garth made a promise that when either of them hit the big-time, they would seek each other out and help each other up the charts. That promise was kept when Garth Brooks hit it big, and asked Trisha to sing vocals on his album No Fences back in 1990. She became his opening act in 1991.

She was born on September 19th, 1964 in Monticello, Georgia. Her father, Jack, was a banker, and her mother, Gwen, was a schoolteacher. She has an older sister Beth. She came to Nashville to attend Belmont College and graduated with a music degree in 1987. She worked as a receptionist at a record label, and sang a few demos as a session singer. That's when she was discovered by Garth Brooks.

Her very first hit, "She's in Love With the Boy," gave her the title of the first female in country music to hit number one with a debut single. With more hits on the way, she accomplished the feats of being her own headline act. She caught the rising tide of female performers in country music in the early 1990's. Previously female acts had only been scattered among the male dominated country charts.

She married the bassist of the Mavericks, Robert Reynolds in 1995. They were divorced in early 2000. They had no children. Trisha currently lives in a modest two bedroom log cabin on 18 acres just outside Nashville. She told Rosey O'Donnel that her favorite past-time is just relaxing at home, watching TV and cooking things up in the kitchen. In 1997 she won the CMA Award as Best Female Artist, and has won many other awards in country music.

Her 2000 tour, Real Live Woman, highlights the album of the same name which was released in April of that year.
