Biography

Amber Valletta was once better known as Leonardo DiCaprio's girlfriend, before being recognized as a supermodel. Unfortunately for Amber, Mr. DiCaprio's interests eventually did not include her. Despite this, she has moved on, and concentrated on her modeling career. She has undergone some incredible changes in image, including a crew cut, black hair, short wavy hair, and a favorite, the flowing blonde hair

Amber Valletta started modeling on weekends at age 15 after her mother enrolled her in a Tulsa modelling school. Her career didn't take off until she made a few trips to Europe and cropped her hair short. Before taking up modelling, she had planned on becoming a sociologist or social worker. Amber Valletta was featured in Peter Lindbergh's book 10 Women and is to appear in the film What Lies Beneath. Early in 1996 she and Shalom Harlow took over the MTV House of Style from Cindy Crawford, but were dropped at the end of the season. Amber was a spokesperson for Breast Cancer Awareness in 1996. She married model Hervé Le Bihan in 1994 but is now divorced.

Very shortly after, her big break came - a cover of French Elle by photographer Hans Feurer. Amber moved to Paris and immediately became a sensation.
INCOME: Her estimated worth in 2000 is $8.1 million.

RÉSUMÉ: Amber has appeared in numerous prestigious advertising campaigns, such as Elizabeth Arden, Versace, Calvin Klein's Escape, DKNY, Prada, Valentino, Jil Sander, Gucci and Chanel. She co-hosted MTV's House of Style and plays a ghost opposite Harrison Ford in What Lies Beneath.

KNOWN FOR: Being one of the 'new breed' of supermodels.

HOME: New York City and Paris.

SWEETIE: She dated and was dumped (for Gisele Bundchen) by Leonardo DiCaprio.

OTHER: She is a vegetarian, loves sweets and smokes sparingly these days. For breakfast she eats, in New York, only orange juice and a cigarette and in Paris all she eats for breakfast is a croissant. Her best friend is fellow supermodel Shalom Harlow. (Amber's mom gave us this information.)

1999 brought Pushing Tin (1999), Hell's Kitchen (1999), The Bone Collector (1999) and the much lauded Girl, Interrupted (1999 - for a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors' Guild award, a ShoWest award, and the big one: an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress).

The Oscar ceremony brought further notoriety to Jolie. Critics sneered at her gothic get-up and her gushing adoration for Haven -- when folks can't fault your performances, they'll get you for brotherly love.

Upcoming for the actor are the films Dancing In The Dark, Gone In 60 Seconds, Tomb Raider and Along Came A Spider. Amber Valletta will assuredly be busy for quite some time. At age 24, with the entertainment industry's top awards on her mantel and stellar talent to spare, Jolie is a Hollywood legend in the making.
